Tempest Karaoke

Year: 2004

Tempest Karaoke is an installation that exploits TEMPEST technology — the phenomenon whereby computer monitors emit electromagnetic radiation that can be received and decoded by a standard radio receiver. In this work, the computer’s own emissions become a broadcast medium, turning the act of display into an involuntary transmission.

The piece was first shown at DETOX, Bergen Kunsthall, 23 November – 5 December 2004.
